HybrId testing of an existing infilled steel frame under multiple earthquakes
SERA-HITFRAMES
Dataset Description
The seismic performance of a multi-storey steel moment resisting frame (MRF) was investigated through pseudo-dynamic hybrid simulations for successive seismic excitations.
Specimens
1. 3D Specimen
5
The test specimen consisted of a 75%-scaled, two-storey, one-bay substructure of a two-storey prototype steelMRF building with three-by-one bays.
1. Snap Back Test - Bare Specimen
A snap back test was conducted in order to acquire bare specimen's dynamic characteristics.
mp4
Instrumentation
Accelerometers and high-resolution displacement sensors were employed (see relevant drawing).
2. Snap Back Test - Infilled Specimen
A snap back test was conducted in order to acquire masonry infilled specimen's dynamic characteristics.
mp4
Instrumentation
The instrumentation scheme adopted was identical to that used for the bare specimen.
3. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) foreshock record, Scale factor = 1
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) foreshock record.

Instrumentation
The instrumentation employed comprised displacement transducers, inclinometers and strain gages (see relevant drawing). Also 2D - Digital Image Correlation technique was used to measure the strains developed at the masonry infills.
4. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) sequence, Scale factor = 1
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) earthquake sequence. The sequence is consisted of three parts: Part 1 - foreshock record, Part 2 - mainshock record and Part 3 aftershock record.

5. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) sequence, Scale factor = 3
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) earthquake sequence (ScaleFactor=3). The sequence is consisted of three parts: Part 1 - foreshock record, Part 2 - mainshock record and Part 3 aftershock record. The test was terminated during the second ground motion component (Part 2) when the IDR was approaching 5%.
