HybrId simulation of existing steel frames with external BRBs for seismic retrofitting
SERA-HITFRAMES_Part 2
Dataset Description
The seismic response of a two-storey steel moment resisting frame retrofitted with BRB was investigated through hybrid simulation. The specimen is configured on the basis of the prototype structure described in:
Di Sarno L, Freddi F, D’Aniello M, Kwon OS, Wu J-R, Gutiérrez-Urzúa F, Landolfo R, Park J, Palios X, Strepelias E. Assessment of existing steel frames: Numerical study, pseudo-dynamic testing and influence of masonry infills. J. Constr. Steel Res. 2021; 185: 106873.

dwg
1. Snap Back Test
A snap back test was conducted in order to acquire bare specimen's dynamic characteristics.
mp4
Instrumentation
Accelerometers and high-resolution displacement sensors were employed (se relevant drawing)
2. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) foreshock record, Scale factor = 0.35
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) foreshock record scaled by 0.35.
dwg
Instrumentation
The instrumentation employed comprised displacement transducers, inclinometers and strain gages, load cells and high-resolution displacement sensors (see relevant drawings).
3. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) foreshock record, Scale factor = 0.75
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) foreshock record scaled by 0.75.
mp4
Instrumentation
The instrumentation scheme adopted was identical to that of the preceding experiment
4. Hybrid Simulation - Norcia (2016) foreshock record, Scale factor = 1.0
A pseudodynamic test (hybrid simulation) was performed under the Norcia (2016) foreshock record scaled by 1.0

Instrumentation
The instrumentation scheme adopted was identical to that used in the preceding experiment.
2. 2D Braced Frame
2
The test specimen consisted in the perimeter frame of a prototype building with two-storey, three bays by one bay steel MRF (same as the bare frame) braced with buckling restrained braces
